My mother and I have had a very long association with Rappaw in Tawa and this includes the continued relationship with our vet Rose.
The professional, caring and sympathetic approach that all the staff has towards firstly their patients and the patient’s owners or as we like to say family has exceeded our expectations. We are always greeted with a smile and up ringing to make an appointment, the team know who you are and who your pet is and you are dealt with, without delay and efficiency.
Over the years we have been able to ring up Rappaw to ask questions, or with any concerns or for appointments and have always been treated in a manner ‘where nothing is too much trouble’. This manner has been greatly appreciated especially over the past couple of years where we have experienced the deteriorating health of our dog Louis and eventually his passing. Rappaw continues to look after our 14 year old Jack (Jack Russell), 8 year old James (cat) and our newest member; 4 month old Tank (mini schnauzer) and we would never consider going anywhere else.
Rose is our preferred vet at Rappaw and is also considered a member of our family, as she knows our pets inside and out and has treated them all over the years. Rose goes the extra mile to investigate treatments and medications when looking after her patient and it is comforting to know that we can ring Rose anytime and she will always get back to you if she is not available.
We cannot express our gratitude enough to the team at Rappaw Tawa for the treatment our family has received over the years in good times and bad and can only continue to recommend and praise the service of Rappaw Tawa to family, friends and acquaintances.

To Whom it May Concern Ian Schraa of of Rappaw Veterinary Care has been looking after our family pets (both cat and dogs) for more than 20 years. In that time Ian has been much more than a vet to our animals. Ian and his staff have always been awesome when dealing with our animals, getting to know each animal as and individual. Ian always treats our pets as though they are part of his extended family.
Ian always manages to put our animals at ease when they become stressed out. He goes out of his way to keep us informed of any special needs that our pets may need and always gives sound advice. We are extremely grateful to Ian and his staff for the care they have provided for our pets over the years and would highly recommend their services to anyone looking for a vet.
I (Sparky) would like to thank Rappaw for all their care of my best mate Tinks, who passed away last November (2012).
For the last thirteen years Rose and the others nursed her through cancer (ears, nose, eye), gashes (she was protecting me from the local bully), a heart condition (told her I’d cause her no end of stress), torn elbow ligaments (not my fault), and all those bloody ‘boarding holidays’ my staff put us through.
I can recommend to all those staff out there first hand that these guys and gals take really good care of us. Rappaw’s care and attention has surely made us better.
PS. Watch out, they say I talk too much. Hell, all I want is a few treats. My size makes me cuddly … really it does.

We have known Ian since December 1993 when as an on call after hour vet he came to see our breeding queen who had complications after her first litter. His bedside manner towards Patches and concerned owners was exemplary. When he took over Paremata Vet Clinic we had no hesitation in changing to his practice some 19 years ago. We would highly recommend Ian and his professional caring team to anyone.

I am so pleased we made the switch to Rappaw Whitby/Paremata Vets. This is largely thanks to Cherelle, as her genuine caring personality “sealed the deal” after months of popping in to buy specialised food for Lissy (our much loved elderly dog). I was hesitant as we had been with the same vet for approx 20 years. This week Lissy has had a sudden onset of seizures and the support the team have provided us has absolutely amazed me. Linda and a lovely nurse met me at the park to support me to get Lissy into the car, and had already called ahead to let her team know we were on our way. The 1-1 care (thanks Linda and Zoe), and phone calls are just fantastic. I can’t rate this Vet highly enough as they honestly do care and are genuinely passionate at the best possible outcome for their patients. Thank you!!
All the feedback for Rappaw Tawa is positive! I am always able to get an appointment within a few hours which is awesome as we really only go there when something is wrong! The vets are all really personable and have loads of love and affection for our animals. They’re always full of knowledge and answer any questions we have. Reception staff are helpful and efficient and again happy to answer any questions that may come up after the consultation.
